Southwest Lombok is getting a marina. Marina Development International — formerly known as Marina Development Indonesia, and the lead developer behind the new Bali Gapura Marina — has confirmed a second project on the neighbouring island of Lombok. The new Belongas Bay Marina is scheduled to begin construction in 2027.
The news was first reported by the international trade publication Marina World on 24 September 2026. For anyone watching Lombok's southwest coast, it is one of the most significant infrastructure announcements the region has seen.

Who Is Behind Belongas Bay Marina?
Marina Development International is the lead developer of Bali Gapura Marina in Benoa, Bali. That project was delivered with Indonesia's state-owned port operator, Pelindo, and has been billed as Indonesia's first international full-service marina.
Bali Gapura Marina opened earlier this year. It is planned to offer up to 180 berths, including space for superyachts of up to 90 metres. Further expansions are planned over the next two years, with full completion slated for 2028.
Belongas Bay Marina differs in one important way. Bali Gapura was built on reclaimed government land. The Lombok marina will be built on privately owned land, and sources at Marina Development International told Marina World that the owner is looking to invest well beyond the berths themselves.

Why Belongas Bay?
Belongas Bay sits on the rugged southern coast of Sekotong, in Lombok's quiet southwest corner. It is a deep, sheltered inlet framed by green hills — the kind of natural harbour marina developers look for.
The bay is already well known to experienced divers. Two of Lombok's most celebrated dive sites, The Magnet and The Cathedral, lie just offshore. Schooling hammerhead sharks are seen there from around late June to early November.
Sekotong is also the gateway to the southwest Gili islands — Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and Gili Tangkong. A marina here puts yachts within easy reach of some of the calmest, clearest water in the region.
A New Bali–Lombok Yacht Corridor
Four hours' cruising between Bali Gapura Marina and Belongas Bay creates a natural pairing. Yachts visiting Indonesia can base themselves in Bali, then cruise across the Lombok Strait to a dedicated, protected harbour on Lombok's southwest coast.
Until now, Lombok has had nothing on this scale for visiting yachts. A marina with refit capability, a dry dock and a yacht club would give superyacht owners, captains and charter guests a reason to stay longer — and a place to be serviced while they do.
What It Means for Sekotong and Southwest Lombok
For Kinnara Capital, this announcement lands close to home. Saraya Beach Resort and Residences sits on 3.73 hectares of direct beachfront at Pengantap Beach — the neighbouring bay to Belongas, in the same Sekotong district. Marinas tend to anchor the premium end of a coastal market. While Belongas Bay Marina is still at the announcement stage, a project of this kind can bring:
